The story
Emma felt afraid when the house grew quiet and the night pressed in. Strange sounds from the hallway made her sit up in bed.
She prayed,
"Dear God, please be with me. I'm scared."
Warm calm spread through her, slow and sure. She imagined God's love like a nightlight no one could switch off.
Emma lay back, safe and peaceful.
